Dinning Out

The Old Post Office Barn is lucky enough to be walking distance away from several pubs for dining out and drinking. We are less than a hundred yards from Ye Olde Rock Inn and a mile from The Three Horseshoes. There are also many pubs and restaurants within driving distance in FlashLeek and Buxton.

Painting and Photography

This area of The Peak District is renowned for moorlands, rock formations and wildlife, drawing artists and photographers to the area whether you are experienced or keen beginner The Peak District is the perfect place to come to for painting and photography. You can even go on day courses as novice photographers to learn how to take the perfect picture.

Walking

There are plenty of walking and hiking opportunities, from short easy strolls to day long moorland hikes, in and around The Peak District National Park that we are situated in.

Simply set off on foot or bike from the Post Office Barn, as the scenery is spectacular here, particularly around the Roaches, or explore further afield, such as the Manifold Valley, Dovedale and other wonderful location.

There are also plenty of dog walking opportunities around us and in addition you are able to book onto guided walks in and around The Peak District with The Peak District National Park Authority Rangers.

Rock Climbing

The Post Office Barn is in the perfect situation for people who want gritstone climbing on their doorstep. If you walk or drive down the hill and through the village you get to the Roaches and if you walk or drive up the hill there are equally good crags at Ramshaw Rocks.

If you wish to drive further afield there is lots of opportunity to go climbing on other gritstone crags and Peak District limestone. If it is raining there are plenty of Climbing Walls close by.

Information on the Peak District crags can be found on the BMC (British Mountaineering Council) website and the Rockfax website.

Mountain Biking and Cycling

There are many off road tracks and lanes that give challenges from easy trails (Manifold valley cycle track) to hard mountain bike routes such as the nearby MTB “Wallabies Revenge”. We can offer a secure lockup for up to two bikes at the Post Office Barn free of charge.
